Louise

Louise Curry, 104, passed peacefully Friday, March 1, 2024, after a long and meaningful life. Louise was married for 60 years to the love of her life Clifton C. "Clif" Curry. She was born in Monroeville, Alabama where she lived with her mother, Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Owens, her father Eugene Clarence Owens, and sister Lucille. She attended Citronelle High School c/o 1937, near Mobile Alabama, and began her business career at Walgreens in Alabama. Louise became the first woman to become an auditor for Walgreens in the late 1940's. Louise met Clif, a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida, and they were married on October 18, 1948. Together, they struck out on their own to start CC Curry Rubber Stamp Company in downtown Tampa, in 1955 which they built together for 35 years. They shared a common love of orchids, travel and family. She loved to grow and propagate orchids at her home in Dana Shores and was a judge in the American Orchid Society. Their love of orchids took them all over the world and created deep and lasting friendships. Louise is survived by her son Clifton Conrad Curry, Jr and his wife, Teresa Curry, her daughter Carole Curry Jenkins and her husband Steve Jenkins as well as grandchildren, Mary Beth Curry, Laura Jenkins LaRocca (Jon), Colton Cox Curry (Laura) and Stephen Jenkins. She also had four great grandchildren - Tessa, Connor and Jack LaRocca and Trey Curry. She was preceded in death by her husband Clif, her infant daughter, Barbara Anette Curry, and her grandson, Clifton Conrad Curry III "Trey".
Louise was known as "MA" to all that were fortunate enough to cross her path in her later years. At her 100 birthday celebration, Mayor Dick Greco, exclaimed "Ma remembers more about my terms as Mayor than I do" MA was known and loved by Clif and Carole's friends, who became not only her friends but also her extended family. She survived many of her contemporaries and friends. Many will miss her stories of our country from the 1930's through 2020's.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa. A Celebration Gathering will be held 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Egypt Shrine with a Toast to "Ma" following in the 1918. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Trey Curry Foundation.
